The first court sentenced him to 8 months in prison, but some time later, during the second trial, he was accused of stealing underwear.
Reporter Lee Jae-Hyun: A man in his 60s who called the victim, banged on the door and stalked the victim was sentenced to life imprisonment (long sentence) and arrested in court during the appeals trial for stealing the underwear of a 70-year-old resident of the same apartment building.
Judge Lee Ji-su of the Wonju Division of the Chungcheong District Court announced on the 4th that he had sentenced Ah (66), accused of violating the Stalking Punishment Law, to eight months in prison.
He was also ordered to undergo a 40-hour stalking treatment program.
Person A, who was tried without custody, was arrested by the court with a custodial sentence.
Mr. A, who lives in an apartment in Wonju, was sentenced to probation in the first trial for breaking into the home of Mrs. B. (72, female), a resident of the same apartment, and stealing underwear in December 2020. An appellate trial is currently pending.
Nevertheless, Mr. A came to the home of Mr. B, who is severely disabled, around 8 p.m. on April 27 and knocked on the door, shouting at Mrs. B, “Open the door, I like you.” He was accused of stalking.
Earlier, from 4:08 p.m. on the 1st of that month until 6:44 p.m. on the 26th of that month, the indictment also included a charge of continuous and repeated harassment in such as – calling Mrs. B.
The judge said: “He was tried for breaking into the victim’s home and stealing her underwear. The victim, who is severely disabled as a result of the series of incidents committed, appears to have experienced significant mental illness.”
“The defendant pleaded guilty, but his medical condition was poor, the sentence was still imposed given that the victim wanted the defendant to be severely punished,” the attorney said.
